These are our firsts. We were excited to get on the first plane (then it was a long first day of traveling). Next is our first meal at the resort (it was all inclusive). And then our first trip down to the beach. It was dark, but we were too excited to wait until morning.
These are some Mayan ruins that we visited. Tulum is on the left and Coba is on the right. Tulum is very popular, but we loved Coba because you can climb on the ruins. Dillon and I are at the top of the picture on the right holding our arms up. You may have to enlarge the picture, but it is awesome!
Probably the biggest culture shock to me was the lack of toilet paper in some restrooms. In one place we went you had to get your TP from a guy out front and he was asking for money before he would give it to you. The restroom from the picture above let you get your own, but you had to get it before you went in your stall. Then, you left your used TP in a can next to the toilet.
As we were missing Thanksgiving, I took smoe decor with me. This is our headboard and I put fall leaves all over it to remind us that it was Turkey Day here at home.
We ate lots of good food. We had several options of restaurants to choose from for each meal that was included in the price of the hotel. All drinks were also included, but not drinking alcohol really limited us. We did get several frozen daquiries and pina coladas "sin alcohol" (without alcohol).
We played on the beach a lot. It was so beautiful and the temperature was always "just right". Of course, every beach vacation includes someone getting burried in the sand. I think a lot of other vacationers also enjoyed seeing Jordan and Nicole get burried. The last picture is Dillon's submission for the Bay Watch competition :)
One day we went on a "Jungle Tour" and drove boats out through a section of willow-like bushes that they call a jungle, then went out snorkeling. We saw lots of fish and corals. Unfortunately, since it was a very windy day the water was cloudy so it was a little hard to see. Plus, due to the wind, the water was pretty choppy which made those with weaker stomachs quite ill.
This is on the beach next to the Tulum ruins. It was a beautiful beach with smooth sand and awesome cliffs and rocks.
